Keenan Chardonnay, 2009 - CSPC 74195

VARIETAL: 100% Chardonnay
AGING: 80% Fermented and aged in French and America Oak Barrels for 7 months, 20% Fermented in Stainless Steel
PRODUCTION: 2,600 cases

TASTING NOTES:
This Chardonnay was hand harvested and gently pressed with 20% of the juice being fermented in stainless steel tanks, while 80% was fermented and aged in French and American Oak Barrels. No secondary or malolactic fermentation was carried out, leading to a crisp, citrus character of this wine. Additional notes include ripe pear and green apple on the nose with hints of lush white peach upon opening up. Like all of Keenan’s wines, this Chardonnay is a food worthy wine whose crisp acidity and medium body will accompany a wide variety of food fare.

TASTING NOTES:
This Merlot consists of 73% Estate Merlot, combined with 24% of Napa Carneros fruit with 3% of Estate Cabernet Franc added in the final blend. Following 18 months in oak – the resulting wine shows intense aromas of black cherry, blackberry and cassis. Complex aromas of cocoa and coffee bean emerge as the wine opens up – making this a ‘big’ Merlot for both food and cellaring.

TASTING NOTES:
This Cabernet imparts amazing concentration and remarkable structure while the 28% portion of the fruit from Pope Valley adds complex aromas and a balanced mid palate. Combined these grapes produce a dark ruby color, lush tannins, sweet dark fruits, subtle barrique and damp earth characteristics. Can easily be consumed over the next decade.

A wine that admirably demonstrates the heights to which this varietal can climb. A brilliant effort, it boasts elegant blue, red and black fruit notes intermixed with abundant spring flower and forest floor aromas. Intense, yet light on its feet, medium to full bodied, stylish and gracious, it’s a compelling example of Cabernet Franc from a high elevation vineyard. It will be fascinating to follow this lovely wines evolution over the next 10-15 years.

TASTING NOTES:
This brilliant Merlot Reserve comes from a tiny 350-case lot that includes 5% Cabernet Franc giving it a dense purple color as well as sweet notes of charcoal, black currants, black cherries, chocolate and earth. Dense, full bodied, and beautifully constructed with silky tannins and enough acidity to provide uplift and vibrancy – it can be enjoyed over the next 15 years.

2006 Marks the 30th vintage for the Robert Keenan Winery and the 6th consecutive vintage of ‘reserve’ Cabernet Sauvignon. The five new Cabernet clones that were planted as bench grafts in the spring of 98’ are now showing their individual characteristics. A combination of two of the five clones were chosen for this 100% Spring Mountain Cuvee of 500 cases. Clone 15 (47.5%) and Clone 337 (47.5%) our two Bordeaux clones, magically combine to make and amazingly seamless, rich, deep, earthy blend. To bring out more chocolaty and licorice like notes, 5% estate Cabernet Franc was added. Enjoy now or decades from now

An outrageous wine blended with 50% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Sauvignon and 25% Cabernet Franc. This is the Spring Mountain version of the famed Bordeaux St.-Emillion, Cheval Blanc. Sweet, rich aromas of subtle menthol, roasted, herbs, black currants, black cherries, licorice and lavender emerge from this fragrant wine. It hits the palate with substantial flavors, but the overall impression is one of grace and elegance. A super rich, long, gorgeous example of Spring Mtn fruit. Intense in flavor but light on its feet. Can easily be enjoyed over the next 20 years

TASTING NOTES:
This wine shows a brilliant greenish-yellow color. It offers aromas of citric and tropical fruits obtained due to the controlled temperature fermentation, with light vanilla notes imparted by its stay in new French oak barrels. Once in the mouth, it is perceived intense, fresh and complex, with a balanced acidity that grants it a long and delicate finish in the mouth.

A brilliant yellow with steel hue appearance – this Pinot Gris exudes notes of apples, citrus and white flowers. This wine is equally impressive on the palate offering crisp notes of green apples meshed perfectly with defined acidity resulting in a perfect meal pairing white wine.

This wines offers a ruby color with violet hues and an aroma of
spices, eucalyptus and pepper. Plum jam notes provide an interesting complexity accompanied by vanilla and tobacco aromas imparted by oak. On the palate it offers a round, pleasant and soft concentration of tannins, volume, fruit with an elegant yet persistent finish.

This wine offers a deep red color with violet hues, an intense aroma of ripe red fruits with floral notes, accompanied by vanilla and tobacco imparted by oak. In the mouth, this wine is round, eliciting great character , soft tannins, full body, with great complexity and a superb finish.

This Pinot Noir offers complex and delicate aromas of tart red fruits, hints of espresso, mocha and a flowery bouquet. On the palate this Pinot highlights notes of red fruits with hints of strawberries all wrapped with round and ripe tannins. It’s low production results in ripe character and a concentrated ruby red color in the glass.

TASTING NOTES:
The ample temperature gap between day and night allows good ripeness of bunches and intense fruit character where plum, cherry, vanilla and the sweetness of the wood are notoriously present. The well finished tannins, intense color and the long persistency in mouth are the pillars of the wines personality.

Pulenta Estates’s top wine does in fact contain around 30% Malbec, but it is supported by Cabernet, Merlot, Petit Verdot and Tannat. This silky, focused, complex red is one of Argentina’s best.

TASTING NOTES:
Red-ruby. Deep, sappy aromas of singed blackberry, black raspberry, currant, dark chocolate, mint and flowers; dominated today by its cabernet component. Then sweet dense and deeply fruity, with layered, very ripe flavors of candied dark berries nicely framed by ripe integrated acidity. Finishes with very fine, sweet tannins and terrific lingering fruit.

It’s brilliant salmon and pink highlights is proof of the care and attention given to the grapes during pressing, maceration and fermentation.

Glass coating opaque purple in appearance – this medium to full bodied malbec offers spice box, incense, strawberries, raspberries and black cherry notes on the nose. Mouth feel provides excellent balance, with fresh round tannins giving way to a lengthy finish. This wine can easily be enjoyed on its own or paired with most beef based appetizers or main dishes.
